The role will be positioned at Group level, as part of the Board of Directors. The new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be responsible for the Marketing & Communications departments – both online and offline.

Description of the role

The Chief Marketing Officer takes ownership of the marketing strategy, plans and performance of the offline & online entertainment and hospitality business. You decide on channel & campaign strategy with strong digital focus, in order to realize growth in turnover, conversion and brand image. As CMO you form and develop a strong marketing team that works towards common goals. The team performance contains the right balance between delivering day-to-day excellent marketing execution and building towards the strategic longer term goals. The 3 marketing & communications teams in total consist of 20 people, managed by a Marketing Manager, Digital Marketing Manager and Communications Manager (3 direct reports). The teams are located in the Netherlands and in Southern Europe. 

Other key responsibilties are:
•    Prepare and manage marketing budget;
•    Develop and roll-out strong brand images and corporate identity;
•    Ensure execution according to strategy and plan throughout whole organization;
•    Build & develop omnichannel marketing strategies & initiatives;
•    Initiate new partnerships.

The CMO reports to the CEO. Policy-based decision-making and important tactical matters take place in close consultation with the CEO and Board.

With more than 60 years of experience and a large market share in the entertainment & hospitality industry, this company operates more than 80 entertainment locations and several online businesses (under multiple brand labels). This organization welcomes more than 4 million visitors every year. Every guest experiences a VIP experience, provided by the 1,200 hospitable, committed employees. After a period of growth, driven by acquisitions and the expansion of the number of branches and launching online business, the growth will increasingly have to come from developing and expanding partnerships, building towards an omnichannel entertainment organization, new leisure concepts and other commercial propositions, in line with the a high degree of hospitality and service orientation that is characteristic for this company. As a logical consequence of this growth the organization must be taken to the next level. Looking at the big picture is important to realize further growth. On a daily basis, it is important that more guests are drawn to the locations and online business and that more target-group specific propositions are developed in order to better meet the needs of the guests. 

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial marketing professional who brings strong leadership and (digital) marketing experience. You are experienced in acting on director level and leading (digital) marketing teams. You have clear vision on marketing, sales, innovation and customer experience, experience with online & offline marketing tools and in-depth knowledge of different digital marketing channels. 

You have the ability to zoom in and zoom out and to prepare and roll-out new ideas and concepts to achieve growth. Driven to really understand the business to the core and to rise above it in order to take the results to higher levels together with the teams, working from multiple locations. You recognize and capitalize commercial/marketing opportunities and innovations in the field of (online) customer experience. You are not a manager but a connector who knows how to get employees behind a common goal and vision and who coaches, motivates and inspires the people in the organization.

Other important characteristics are;

  • Critical thinker, creative and problem-solving skills;
  • No-nonsense, entrepreneurial mentality;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English;
  • Low ego, "street smart". 

A background in entertainment, e-commerce, hospitality and/or retail environment is seen as a good basis for the challenges this company faces. Passion for hospitality is a must!

The role will require regular travelling between the Netherlands and Mediterranean Europe.

Remuneration

This position offers an attractive fixed salary, other conditions are well arranged.
